India's pace spearhead Mohammed Shami is set to miss the limited-overs leg of England’s tour comprising three ODIs and three T20I starting on Jan 15. Shami suffered a knee injury in the third Test in Mohali that saw him miss the last two Tests. Top-ranked India won the five-Test series 4-0.

According to a report in the Times of India, Mohammed Shami will miss the overs-limit games against England so as to recover in time for the one-off Test against Bangladesh followed by four against Australia that will complete India’s packed home Test season.

The report speculated that Shami's spot could go to Ishant Sharma, with the experienced Ashish Nehra also in the fray based on his strong performance in the World T20 earlier this year.

India might recall Shikhar Dhawan following injury to regular opener Rohit Sharma. Ajinkya Rahane is also an injury doubt that could see a call up for Test triple centurion Karun Nair.

India will play England in a three-match ODI series between Jan 15 and Jan 22, while the subsequent three T20 Internationals will be played between Jan 26-Feb 1.
