After serving as the media representative at the ICC Cricket Committee for the past 6 years, Ravi Shastri has decided to resign from his post. Reports suggest that his decision was a result of Anil Kumble expressing his interest to continue on as the committee's chairman.

"I have already submitted my resignation. There are personal commitments and I have been there for six years," Ravi Shastri was quoted as saying by the PTI.

Until Anil Kumble entered the fray, Ravi Shastri was considered to be the front-runner for the role of the Indian cricket team's coach. Eventually, Kumble landed the coveted job, and the decision and the selection process, has not gone down well with Shastri, who had later been involved in a war of words with Sourav Ganguly, one of the members of Cricket Advisory Committee which interviewed the candidates for the BCCI.

On Friday, an unnamed BCCI source has revealed to PTI that Ravi Shastri's decision to leave the ICC Cricket Committee was taken in order to avoid 'uncomfortable' moments with its chairman Anil Kumble, who has decided to continue to chair the committee, despite his new job.

"Just like Sourav, Ravi is also an emotional man at one level. He is yet to come to terms with rejection. Since he became a media representative as BCCI nominee, probably, he is not willing to continue in that post. Also with Kumble expressing his opinion to continue as chairman, it might just be uncomfortable for both of them to sit in a meeting.

"Also media representative is more of a decorative post in ICC Cricket Committee," a BCCI source told PTI on Friday.
