Sourav Ganguly set to continue as CAB President
Sourav Ganguly is set to continue as the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), with the ex-Indian skipper unlikely to face any opposition. The decision on who will be the next President of the association will be taken at the 85th Annual General Meeting of CAB of July 31.
Ganguly was appointed as the President in September last year after the demise of former President Jagmohan Dalmiya. With Ganguly having the blessings of the ruling Trinamool Congress government, it is highly unlikely that anyone would file a nomination against the former Indian skipper, reported PTI. Although there are a few who would like to challenge current Joint Secretary Avishek Dalmiya, the son of the late Jagmohan Dalmiya, that can also be considered a long shot.

"In CAB, two weeks is a long long time. The last date of filing nomination is July 23 and any member can withdraw on the floor. So it is a very fluid situation at the moment. Even if anyone wishes to contest against Avishek, a couple of phone calls from ruling dispensation can change the picture completely. So no one should speculate anything right now," a senior CAB official told PTI on Saturday.
Ganguly’s tenure at the CAB began with a washed out T20 game between India and South Africa before the Eden Gardens hosted two marquee events in the World T20 - the group stage clash between India and Pakistan and the final. The former Indian skipper was also instrumental in organising the first-ever pink ball game in India.
