Rahul, Dhawan, and Rohit begin with fifties against West Indies Board President's XI
Indian openers KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, and middle order batsman Rohit Sharma started their long tour of West Indies with fifties against the Board President's XI at Basseterre on Saturday. India finished the opening day at 258/6 in 93 overs with Amit Mishra and Rohit in the middle.

In the morning, Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. With only 12 players allowed to play and 11 to take the field, India left out Murali Vijay, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Stuart Binny, and Shardul Thakur.
Openers KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan got the Indians off to a good start and formed a 93-run opening partnership. After scoring a fifty, Dhawan retired out to give the others a chance to bat in the middle. KL Rahul also followed his partner soon and left for the pavilion after scoring the fifty.

However, skipper Virat Kohli did not
Rohit Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha then formed a 47-run partnership to take India past 200 before leg-spinner Damian Jacobs struck to remove the wicketkeeper-batsman for 22. Rohit was then joined by Amit Mishra, and they made sure that there were no more wickets on the opening day of the two-day game. On the second and final day of the game, India will be looking to give their bowlers a run to acclimatise to the conditions.
