West Indies Cricket Board sack Darren Bravo for inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour

Bravo was given a Grade C contract by the WICB, which he turned down subsequently. But the Board president Dave Cameron went on record to justify the exclusion pointing towards the average of the southpaw. 

In an interview to a Caribbean television network SportsMax TV, Cameron said, "It is explicit that if your averages are not above a certain level it tells you what contracts you get. It is very, very explicit.

"His averages in the last two years have been declining, so what do you do? Reward poor performance or do you encourage him to get better?"

Bravo, who has scored 3400 runs in 49 Tests at an average 40, replied to the accusation by tweeting

Taking offense to Bravo's behaviour, WICB axed him from the squad and replaced him with Jason Mohammed, who led West Indies A on the tour of Sri Lanka in October.

The statement of the WICB read, “Bravo had been "replaced due to inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour, which is contrary to his contractual obligations to the WICB". 

It further stated, that a clause in his contract "clearly states not to make any statement in or to any form of media (which shall include, without limitation, print media, television, radio, internet or any social networking media), or any other public statement, which would bring yourself, WICB or any official or authorised representative of WICB or the game of cricket into disrepute, and your agreement to use all such media in a responsible manner."

Bravo was the second-highest run scorer for West Indies in the recently concluded series against Pakistan at UAE. Bravo has scored 1089 runs in 17 Tests for West Indies since November 2014, that is only second to Kraigg Brathwaite's 1258 runs in 20 matches.
