After his blitzkrieg century at Florida, KL Rahul has drawn praise from former Indian team director Ravi Shastri who has called him “the most improved player”. Shastri also pointed towards his wicket-keeping skills in addition to calling him out as a big asset for Indian cricket in years to come.

Within months of making his debut in both the shorter formats of the game, KL Rahul has centuries in both to his name. In fact, he is only the third Indian batsman to have scored a century in each of the three formats. From years of being labeled as a Test specialist, Rahul's journey was kickstarted when he played a pivotal role in Royal Challengers Bangalore's run to the final. Although he was overshadowed by Virat Kohli's phenomenal run, his exploits caught everyone's eyes, and soon he was selected for his first ODI. At Harare, Rahul made a century in his debut ODI match. With the rapid-fire 110-run innings at Lauderhill, he has cemented his claim to a place in the Indian squad.

Speaking about his rapid ascent to the top, Ravi Shastri, who was the Indian team's director until months back, said,"KL Rahul is the most improved player in the world in last one year. He is not only good in Test cricket, but in other two formats. He has a great future ahead of him," reported ToI.

The ex-Indian captain also said that Rahul would "naturally get even better" and also noted that his added ability as a wicketkeeper will help him edge out his rivals. "He is certain going to do well for India in all the formats," said Shastri.

ToI also reported that the veteran cricketer brushed aside India's loss to West Indies in the two-match T20 series. Shastri also reportedly favored the Indian team to perform well when big rivals New Zealand, England, and Australia come calling on Indian shores soon.
