KKRs Gesture Towards Matheesha Pathirana Wins Hearts Among Fans
Matheesha Pathirana was unavailable for the majority of the season for Kolkata Knight Riders. He suffered with a hamstring injury again, when he tried to play a game for the team. Recently, Pathirana went through a successful surgery, as he thanked KKR for the same.
Kolkata Knight Riders had their previous IPL season affected with injuries. Some of their key players, including Matheesha Pathirana, were unavailable for the team for the majority of the season. Even though Pathirana returned to play a game for the team, he was still not fully fit from his hamstring injury.
Therefore, he was rested even in the middle of the game and replaced by another player in between. Following this, Kolkata Knight Riders decided to support Matheesha Pathirana in this challenging phase. He had to go through a surgery to ensure that he remains fit and ready for the upcoming fixtures for the Sri Lankan cricket team.

A Twitter user posted a photo of Matheesha Pathirana after his surgery went successful. He also wrote that with the support of Sri Lanka Cricket and Kolkata Knight Riders, Matheesha Pathirana was able to go through a successful hamstring surgery, which took place in France. Even Pathirana reacted to the same via his official account.

Kolkata Knight Riders have shown why the Indian Premier League is preferred more by the players worldwide. It is not just the popularity of the tournament, it is also the fact that the teams treat their players as a family. Even though IPL will be taking place next year, KKR realised that Pathirana is a future asset for them, and made a bold decision to help him out in this injury phase.
