Murali Vijay: I don't feel 100% yet, but mentally I'm up there

The right-hander has been one of India's most consistent scorers for the Indian team in recent times, but injuries have proved detrimental to him. He has enjoyed a purple patch in white flannels in the long home season and was India's one of the most reliable players in the format. But since the end of the home series against Australia, Vijay had only featured in a TNCA first division league match last month, when his injury resurfaced which ruled him out of the Sri Lanka Test series. Now, Vijay admitted that he will have to wait for a longer period before making a comeback to the team again. 

Speaking to the Times of India, Vijay said, “It's an absolute pleasure to get back into action” 

He has not yet fully recovered from the injury and is trying to use the TNPL platform to regain his fitness. 

"To be honest, I don't feel 100% yet, but mentally I'm up there. Hopefully, I can start from the TNPL and build from there on. Once I am fully fit, I will be informing the BCCI," he further added.

When asked about the viability of making a comeback in a T20 format after a prolonged absence, he said, "For me, format doesn't matter. My injuries are not under my control. I just want to be fit and play cricket. As everyone has seen, my career has been one-dimensional so far. I obviously want to enhance it. It's just my mindset and my injuries, which I have to manage properly from now on. Any cricket is fantastic for me because I enjoy playing cricket and it's an excellent opportunity for me to start my second innings."
