S Sreesanth files a petition demanding NOC from BCCI to play cricket in Scotland

The BCCI had imposed a lifeban on Sreesanth due to his alleged involvement in spot-fixing during the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League, but the Kerala High-court lifted the ban after he was acquitted of the charges in 2015. 

The lifetime ban on Sreesanth was lifted by a single-judge bench of Kerala High court headed by justice A. Muhamed Mustaque on August 7th who had also set aside all proceedings against the cricketer that had been initiated by the BCCI. However, the Indian board has expressed at the discussion and had announced moving the court against the decision. 

The Indian cricket board is yet to file a petition against the court’s decision while Sreesanth has decided to take the High Court’s assistance in getting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play Premier League matches for Glenrothes Cricket Club in Scotland. In a letter addressed to the club, Sreesanth has said that he had asked the BCCI to grant him an NOC with immediate effect to enable him to play for the club. However, Sreesanth shared his forbidding in regards to the issue as well stating that he doesn’t think the BCCI to take timely action on the issue. 

In his petition to the HC, the cricketer said, “Without intervention of this court by issuing necessary clarification, this petitioner reasonably apprehends that the BCCI may not such an NOC.”

The petition further read that the Premier League will conclude on or before September 9.
