Reports : World XI players offered $10000 to play in Pakistan

Pakistan’s status as an international sporting venue had come under threat after a terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009. A group of militants targeted a bus which was carrying the Lankan players to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. This incident was a shocker for the entire cricketing world and subsequently, Pakistan has faced the brunt of the incident as no other nation visited the country for a tour, apart from Zimbabwe, who played a limited over series in 2015. 

However, now, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has shown their support to Pakistan and backed them for a match against the World XI so that International cricket can revive itself in the country. The World XI team is expected to play three T20 matches at Gadaffi stadium in Lahore in the last week of September.

According to a report in The Telegraph, the World XI team has not been selected yet and Flower is expected to be the coach. He will have the responsibility of picking the squad for the team, which will play the three matches in Lahore. 

The report also said that a team from Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations will submit a report on the security, which will be compiled by ECB’s security officer Reg Dickason, to persuade the players to play in Pakistan. They will also be offered USD 10,000 each to participate in the series.

Earlier, the ICC hired an international security company to ensure no security concerns are faced during the matches.
