Ravindra Jadeja showed his destructive capabilities while playing in an inter-district T20 tournament as he smashed six maximums in an over off Nilam Vamja against Amreli. He scored 154 runs in just 69 balls helping his team, Jamnagar register a 121-run victory in their opening game.

Jadeja played his last T20 for India in July against West Indies in Kingston and in the recent past, he was part of only the Test squads as the Indian selectors followed their rotation policy and gave chances to fringe players in place of the regular players. But recently, the Indian all-rounder not only proved his worth as a T20 player but also had loyalists reminscing of Yuvraj Singh, who smashed six sixes off a Stuart Broad.

The 29-year-old, who slammed a double-century in his first Ranji Trophy innings of the season, showed glimpses of his disastrous side. He smashed six sixes in an over which helped him score a century on the first day of the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) inter-district T20 tournament.

Jadeja opened the innings for Jamnagar with Divyaraj Chauhan and the former was dismissed in the 19th over of the game, but before that, he had already setup a strong platform for his team. It was Jamnagar’s 15th over which created the headlines as it gave fans the entertainment they were seeking. The off-spinner, Nilam Vamja, saw all his six delivers go out of the ground for sixes and he ended up conceding 48 runs in two overs.

The Indian all-rounder was run out in the 19th over but his 154-run knock helped his team to score 239 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. The Saurashtra batsman scored 120 of his 154 runs in boundaries - 15 fours and 10 sixes. In response, Amreli managed only 118 for 5 in 20 overs and they lost the match by 121 runs.

The SCA inter-district T20 tournament features 16 teams divided into four groups. Jamnagar will play their next game against Botad on Saturday.
