Pitch curator Matthew Page has assured that the pitch at the Melbourne Cricket Ground will be a good one and will have something in store for all, be it a batsman or a bowler. The third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is all set to begin at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26.

After the Internationational Cricket Council (ICC) rated the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) as a “poor” category pitch to play Test Cricket on after last year's Ashes Test, speculation has been rife as to how the pitch at the MCG will play for the Boxing Day match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But the pitch curator Matthew Page has revealed that there is no worry as the pitch will have something for everyone.

“We were unlucky not to get a result through losing the last day through rain, but there seemed to be a bit there for everyone,” Page said to cricket.com.au.

“There was a bit for the quicks, a couple of guys scored hundreds, and the feedback we got from that game was really positive.”

The MCG track came under heavy criticism after a lifeless track was used for last Australian summer Test against England in the Ashes. Page also dismissed suggestions that last year’s ratings for the pitch don’t matter this year anymore and asserted that he has done the best job possible.

“It doesn’t matter what pitch you get the previous year and what rating you get. Every year you try and do the best possible job you can. Whether you succeeded the year before or (not), I think there’s still the same pressure there”.
