Ramiz Raja has claimed that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has grown immensely since it’s inception three years back and now ranks second only to the Indian Premier League. Raja also ensured that PSL's third edition, which begins on Thursday, will turn out better than the previous editions.

Domestic T20 tournaments have been a neverending trend in the global cricketing scenario ever since the inaugural version of the IPL introduced by BCCI back in the year 2008. After its tremendous success, similar tournaments such as the Big Bash League in Australia, the Bangladesh Premier League, the Caribbean Premier league in West Indies and most recently the T20 tournament in Hong Kong, have all started helping in promoting the sport to a whole other level.

PSL, too, was established with the same mindset by the Pakistan Cricket Board, as they aimed to boost talent at the youth level, while also generating a significant amount as a part of board revenue. And former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja has claimed in his column in the TOI, that the signature T20 tournament in Pakistan ranks second in the world, only to the Indian Premier League.

Pakistan Super League has been a success story from all angles. Every year the player profile has kept increasing and improving with more money being invested in each edition. Making their debuts in PSL 3 would be the big names like Colin Ingram and Jofra Archer.

"In per match ratio term, Pakistan Super League is second only to Indian Premier League. As the ride takes us into year three, you will get to see a larger canvas of players, a new team making an appearance and potential greats trying to outdo the known performers.” wrote Raja.

With Chris Lynn already ruled out of the tournament due to a dislocated shoulder, the audience would look to South African all-rounder JP Duminy for some entertaining displays, as Raja stated that he’d be one of the stars to watch out for.

“I believe that Islamabad United’s pick Duminy is pretty good, as he plays outstandingly well against the spin and is tremendous while running between the wicket. He is also a great fielder, who can bowl off-spin as well.” Raja said in a chat with the Businessrecorder.

The PSL 3 will also feature the likes of Misbah ul Haq, Alex Hales, Andre Russell, Evin Lewis and Shakib-Al-Hasan as well amongst others.
