ICC proposes favourable playing conditions for visiting teams

The annual conference of ICC concluded in Dublin yesterday, revealed many proposals that the body wants to undertake in order to escalate the facilities provided to the visiting teams. The Chief Executives Committee proposed that the host boards should ensure allocating the visiting teams with the best facilities that can be arranged to give them ease and familiarity with the foreign environment.

“CEC also agreed to make changes to the way tours are conducted as a part of a collective effort to build a culture of respect in the game. This includes the philosophy that the touring team should be treated as guests in the country with the standard of accommodation, travel and catering equal to that which the home team receives,” issued ICC in a statement.

They have emphasized the fact that the visiting teams should be provided with a Level Playing Field for the practice sessions which can assist the visitors in predicting the pitch conditions they would encounter during the series. They also proposed to make varied net bowlers available for batsmen, who can assist them during practice.

“The visiting team should also be provided with an opportunity to prepare for upcoming International matches under similar conditions to those they will play in during the series including the same standard and variety of net bowlers and training pitches. Teams should also be provided with the opportunity to mix socially,” ICC added further in the statement.

Further ICC has approved the playing conditions and point structure of World Test Championship stating that all the World Test Championship matches are going to be held over five days rather than four.
