No featuring of outstation players in TNPL, emphasizes CoA

CoA is strongly emphasizing on the fact that no outstation player will be allowed to partake in the third edition of TNPL. CoA forwarded their decision to TNCA by a mail on Saturday. They have cleared that as per the provisions handed by the BCCI, an outstation player is not allowed to play in a tournament that is organised by any other association.

Further, CoA has clarified that if the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) fails to comply with the conditions stated, the tournament may be declared as 'Unapproved’, though they have given their consent for the organization of the tournament. CoA has also revealed the concerned members of BCCI to withdraw the No Objection Certificates given to Unmukt Chand and Hanuma Vihari. Both the players had registered for the outstation Player's draft. Further, CoA has asked the registered players to follow the home association.

“It is reiterated that in the event you fail to comply with the Advisory (including for the avoidance of doubt the provision which does not permit players registered with another State Association for the purpose of participating in BCCI tournaments from participating in your T20 tour), permission shall not be granted for the third edition of the TNPL and the same may be declared as an 'Unapproved Tournament’, the consequence of which will be solely on account of your refusal to comply with the Advisory,” the CoA mail stated.

Owing to this new development, TNCA has decided to organize a meeting on Monday to further review this issue.

“CoA cannot tell us how to host a tournament. They are basically taking away the livelihood away of players. We will sit with our governing council members before taking a final decision,” a TNCA official told TOI.
