Hasin Jahan, Mohammed Shami's wife, came up with new allegation on the Indian cricketer as she stated that the Bengal pacer took money from a Pakistani citizen for "match-fixing". In response, Shami not only denied the charges but also said he would rather die than fix a match.

Hasin Jahan had earlier made allegations against Shami about domestic violence and infidelity through social media. Later, the cricketer posted a tweet saying that all the charges were “absolutely false” and it was a “conspiracy” to ruin his career. Now, Jahan alleged that Shami took money from a Pakistani woman named Alishba and may be involved in match-fixing.

“If Mohammed Shami can cheat me then he can cheat the county as well. He accepted money from a Pakistani girl named Alisbah in Dubai. He agreed to accept it after insistence of England-based Mohammed Bhai. I have proof,” Jahan told ABP.

“I have evidence. The media should go to that hotel in Dubai where Shami met Alishba and check if he booked a room or not. I have a recording of Shami saying that he took the money. But why was he given the money in first place?”

It is also learnt that Shami’s wife filed a written complaint against him and his family members. The Kolkata police started a case against the 27-year-old under several sections of the Indian Penal Code along with 498A, which includes cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives.

According to The Hindu, Joint Commissioner of Kolkata Police Praveen Tripathi informed that the case has been registered at Kolkata’s Jadhavpur Police Station on the basis of Jahan’s written complaint.

After the incident, BCCI had decided to withhold Shami's name from the official annual contracts list. Shami, who was in Dharamsala when his wife started targeting him, refused all the charges and seemed disappointed with the fixing charges.

"Hasin(wife) and her family have been saying that we will sit and talk out all issues, but I don't know who has been misleading her. As far as allegation of compromising my performance playing for the country is concerned, I would rather die than do something like this," he told ANI.

“I am disappointed that I have been kept out of BCCI central contract list. I have not spoken to any BCCI official, but I hope they look into the matter properly.”
