VIDEO | Ravindra Jadeja’s brilliant presence of mind leaves Bangladesh dressing room stunned

If MS Dhoni deserves a spot in the team because of his wicket-keeping, Ravindra Jadeja should not be worried about his place as well. His fielding itself warrants him a spot and the way he dismissed Mohammed Mithun with a snap judgement within a second of picking up the ball, was just brilliant.

After the game seemed like tipping in Bangladesh’s favour, Kedar Jadhav chipped in with a wicket and suddenly the tide turned India’s way. Spinners did an excellent job of keeping them in check after that and Bangladesh found it hard to keep up with their initial scoring rate. It was all down to the duo of Liton Das and Mohammed Mithun to rebuild the innings, but Jadeja had the lady luck and strong presence of mind with him to push Bangladesh further into turmoil.

Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a flighted ball outside off stump to which Liton Das easily drove towards cover with a solid punch. For a moment, it looked like it was too fast to stay inside the ring, but Jadeja is known for just that. The fine fielder that he is, he just drove and intercepted the ball with a full-length dive to his left. After saving the ball, he had very little time on his hands to decide in which direction he wanted to throw the ball.

Both the batsmen, however, were in the striker’s end. While Jadeja’s body almost had the momentum to throw it towards the non-striker's end, he immediately controlled himself and understanding there was no one on the side of Chahal, he immediately threw it to the bowler, who whipped off the bails to dismiss Mithun.
