Twitter reacts to 'agitated' David Warner throwing his bat after Neil Wagner’s one-handed stunner
The David Warner performance curve in 2019 has been a huge one. After a series of failed outings during the 2019 Ashes, Warner’s form evolved when Australia played Pakistan at home with a gigantic unbeaten 335. He was looking for another big knock against the Kiwis but Neil Wagner had other plans.
With Joe Burns gone and Marnus Labuschagne in a mood to score, Warner wasn’t shying away from scoring too many either. Warner had thoroughly enjoyed his day punishing Lockie Ferguson with boundaries and seemed to have the right flow. He was also seen sharing a heated exchange with Tim Southee. So the Warner we were witnessing was the Warner true to his form in all senses. But, much to his dismay, the flow was broken and how!
Facing Wagner in the 26th over, Warner was getting accustomed to the pacer’s adjusted lengths. Wagner adopted fuller deliveries, instead of his usual short ones, to tackle Warner. The batsman, having defended the first three deliveries of the over, of the same length, lowered his bat only to mistime the punch and hence pushed it to the right of the bowler. Wagner, who was still in movement, was jogging towards his right and in the process caught hold of the ball when it was hardly an inch up in flight, well about to touch the ground.
With Wagner plucking the absolute beauty just ahead of lunch, Warner’s disappointment was nothing but expected. But the Aussie was not leaving without showcasing a tantrum and he threw the bat to show how displeased he was with the incredible caught and bowled. In the next minute, Warner picked up his bat and finished his walk back to the Pavillion and just before entering, a little inside the ropes, he threw his gloves and helmet and left with disappointment.WHAT A CATCH BY WAGNER!
