The Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson camaraderie is known to one and all but like all great things, there’s an imperfection in this amazing partnership. And that is nothing but a recurring communication gap every time come out together to bat, as was seen in the Perth Test but this time a bit unique.

The two pillars of the Black Caps side across formats, Rosco and Williamson, are the reason why the team stands where it does today. But the fans will tell you how pleased and nervous, at the same time, they are when the duo are partnering on the field. The reason being the long string of miscommunication that has happened between the two in the past, leading to runouts, missed runs and a few other things in similar lines.

Now, as New Zealand lost both their openers excruciatingly early in their innings the burden was on the two of them again. After a phase of hiccups, the duo were yet to come out of their safety net and attack. It was in the first delivery of the fifth over, Starc bowled a full toss and Taylor, just at 1 off 7 deliveries crafted a straight drive right up in the air and went straight to hit Williamson at the non-striker’s end.

As the ball hit Williamson on the pads, he was down for a second and so was the ball. But the moment he got up, the skipper apologized to Taylor for blocking those four runs. And the bowler stood there, amused and relieved for not having conceded a boundary and mentally patting the shoulder of Williamson for the brave act.
