According to a recent report in TOI, CoA member Diana Edulji has expressed her disappointment over Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul’s recent comments on the chat show “Koffee with Karan”. There are reports that the BCCI might be thinking of banning cricketers from appearing on chat shows in the future.

After Pandya's comments were termed as racist and sexist on social media, BCCI sent a show-cause notice to both Pandya and Rahul. Later, the all-rounder responded back to the show-cause notice by saying that he was unaware that his comments would be termed as “disrespectful”. According to a recent report on The Times of India, KL Rahul was also asked for an explanation but he is yet to come up with one.

However, CoA member Diana Edulji is not happy with the show-cause notice only and wants the duo to be banned, as per a report on the same newspaper. The BCCI official has also cited the example that Bishan Singh Bedi was also handed a ban in the 70s after a comment made against

“Cricketers over the years, even while bonding with filmstars, have maintained their distance for the simple reason that their primary role is representing the country. Comments like these don’t show anyone in good light. This is sad. Someone of the stature of Bishen Singh Bedi also did not get away with going on a television show in the 70s and was handed a one-match ban,” sources in the Board told TOI.

While Pandya, in no uncertain terms, has asked for forgiveness and vowed not to make any such comments in the future, the certainty of the BCCI’s verdict is yet to be clear. However, a ban may not happen after the all-rounder’s response to the notice.
