India vs Australia | Ashton Turner to join Australia ODI squad as cover for Mitchell Marsh
Cricket Australia has called up batting all-rounder Ashton Turner as a cover for Mitchell Marsh before the first ODI against India to be played in Sydney. Marsh, who recently played the MCG Test, has been admitted to the hospital for the last couple of days after suffering from gastritis.
Australia will come out to exact revenge of the Test series loss against the visiting Indian team as both the sides get ready to play the three-match ODI series. But, the home team has got a jolt before the beginning of the series with all-rounder Mitchell Marsh suffering from gastritis and he is currently in a hospital for the last two days.
Meanwhile, the management has decided to bring Ashton Turner into the squad as a cover for the Western Australia all-rounder ahead of the first game of the series to be played on January 12 in Sydney. The batting all-rounder, who leads the Perth Scorchers side in the ongoing Big Bash League, was earlier a part of the T20I team and had played three games in 2017. He has only 26 T20I runs and three wickets so far in his international career.
He has been rewarded for his good form in the BBL and played a crucial role in Perth's wins this year. In the last three games of the league, he has scores of 43*, 47 and 60*. Playing for Western Australia, the 25-year-old has amassed 742 List A runs at an average of 33.72 and picked up only six wickets in 30 games.
