Yuvraj will be in my all time eleven whenever I sit down to make my team, says Kapil Dev
Kapil Dev has stated that if he ever makes a lineup of the best players of all time ion international cricket, Yuvraj Singh would certainly fit into the side. Dev went on to mention that he hoped the icon received a proper farewell match and wished him all the best for his future.
Kapil Dev has played with and against some of the absolute legends of the game, be it the icons from the early West Indies teams, Indian all-time greats such as Gavaskar and Mohinder Amarnath or Australian legends such as Allan Border and Dennis Lillee. And ever since his retirement, he has witnessed even more legends take the field and make a name for themselves, the list of which is quite certainly endless.
Hence, when he stated that Yuvraj Singh will definitely be a part of his all-time XI, it went to show what an impact the swashbuckling all-rounder has had on both Indian cricket and the game globally. With nearly 12,000 runs and 150 wickets internationally across all the three formats of the game, Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement on Monday and the World Cup-winning captain was quick to shower his praise on the left-hander stating that a legend like him deserved a farewell match from the Board instead of simply saying to the world he was hanging his boots.
“Yuvraj will be in my all time eleven whenever I sit down to make my team. I would love to see a player like him get the farewell from the ground than he saying ‘I am retired’,” said Kapil at the launch of fantasy sports platform ‘Apne11’
A few players can even dream of taking the field again after battling from a survival-threatening disease like cancer but Yuvraj Singh had it in him to come back and not only represent his country again but also put in some of the best performances of his career after recovering from the sickness.
“The way he played his cricket. The way he is looked up to, what he has gone through in his life (battling cancer). I wish him even better than what he achieved on the cricket field,” the world-cup winning skipper concluded.
