It has been decided in the TNCA council meeting on Tuesday that Tamil Nadu Premier League will have a pre-season trading window in the upcoming fourth edition of the local T20 competition. This will allow the eight participating franchises to buy and sell up to a maximum of three players each.

After the IPL decided to introduce a pre-season trading window last year, which is yet to see the light of the day, TNPL took stock from it and has decided to have one of its own for the upcoming season of the tournament. The trading window will run between June 19 and 29 and during that time, the eight participating franchises will get a chance to buy and sell up to a maximum of three players each ahead of the 2019 season.

This season of the TNPL is set to begin on July 19, with the final set for August 18 and the draft will be held on July 4. A total of 32 matches will be played over three venues during that time, though the board said a detailed schedule will be released at a later point, teams have started their preparations.

TNCA has also revealed that the fourth edition of the league will do away with the mandatory Under-19 player rule while the teams can have a maximum of 22 players and a minimum of 16 players in their squad that includes two district players.

In another significant development, the franchises' participation fee has been doubled from 10% last year to 20% for the 2019 season while the TNPL has also increased the Net Central Right to the last-placed team by around INR 59 Lakh.
