Jasprit Bumrah has said that he loves nothing more than taking wickets of the opposing batsmen and if asked, he could just keep on bowling. He went on to talk about how he had mastered the yorker early on in his youth and reminisced about his childhood and his family’s contributions to his career.

Having made his debut for the Men in Blue in ODIs in 2016, Bumrah has risen through the ranks rapidly. While Russell named him the most challenging bowler in the world presently, Gayle labelled him as ‘deceptive’ and ‘unique’. Currently, the number one ranked bowler in the world in the 50-over format, there are a few that can give a team impetus in the way he can.

“I love bowling and could bowl, bowl and bowl. When you see the stumps flying, that’s the best feeling,” Bumrah was seen saying in a video released by ICC.

His ability to bowl a searing yorker at will with an erect front leg and slinging action is unparalleled in world cricket, while he is also equally capable of fooling the batsman with a slower one and many other such variations. He already has 90 wickets in 52 ODI matches and has shown no signs of slowing down.

"Since I used to play in the backyard, yorker is the only delivery I used to bowl quite a lot as bowlers used to get a lot of wickets on the yorkers so I thought that is the only way to get wickets,” Bumrah revealed, reported TOI.

So far India has had a very successful World Cup campaign, remaining unbeaten and winning three of the four matches they have played. While the batting has traditionally been India’s strength since time immemorial, it is the bowling attack that has been making headlines for a change.

“If you don't believe, nobody else would believe so we have a lot of belief in our team and in our abilities. Our aim is to do well as a unit and which we are doing right now. Obviously, our nation is known for great batsmen. If you want to win, you have to do well as a fast bowling unit,” the 25-year-old stated.

However, the journey has not been easy for the right arm pacer hailing from Gujarat. His family has stood like a rock beside him which has given him the mental courage to keep on performing at such high levels both domestically and for the nation.

“I lost my father when I was a kid, so we were a close unit my sister and mother, obviously I’m very close to them. Whenever things go well, did not go well, we keep the atmosphere at home that everything is similar,” an emotional Bumrah quoted.

"My mother has done a lot, she was a school principal and just retired. She has done a lot of hard work for us. You do not need to go anywhere to find inspiration, it is just at your home,” he added, delivering a strong statement to all budding sportsperson out there.
