In what has come as a huge shock for Mumbai Indians, Adam Milne has reportedly pulled out of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League due to a swollen heel that he suffered recently. The Mumbai-based franchise had spent an amount of INR 75 lakhs in the last auction to garner his services.

Earlier last night, Lasith Malinga ruled himself out of the first six IPL matches for Mumbai Indians in order to qualify for the Sri Lanka World Cup squad as the country's national selectors made it compulsory that the players must play in the Super Provincial One-day domestic tournament in Sri Lanka if they are to be considered for the World Cup.

Now, the franchise, which have a very strong Indian core and are primed for another championship run this time, have lost the services of Adam Milne, reported ESPN Cricinfo. While the franchise is yet to reveal the actual status on Milne's injury, they are very keen on roping in Windies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph as a replacement as per the report.

Furthermore, the IPL rules state that the amount a franchise can pay the replacement player cannot exceed that paid to the original player and now, Mumbai will have to bear with the constraint that any player whom Mumbai will want to rope in couldn’t have a base price over INR 75 lakhs, which was Milne’s price this season.

Worryingly, for the franchise, they have no more than two overseas pacers now - New Zealand’s Mitchell McClenaghan and Ben Cutting from Australia to complement the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya.
