Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Yusuf Pathan reckons that David Warner will be the star attraction on Sunday as his side take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their opening fixture of this year’s IPL. Warner is making a return to international cricket after serving a one-year sanction handed by Cricket Australia.

David Warner is definitely one of the most successful batsmen in the Indian Premier League ever since it began back in 2008. The left-handed opener has been part of the domestic competition since 2009 and has scored a mammoth 4014 runs at an average of 40.54 including his highest score of 126 which came during the 2017 IPL season.

The hard-hitting Australian was not part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad last year due to the one-year ban imposed on him by Cricket Australia. However, Warner has returned to Hyderabad and will feature in the opening match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. Former KKR player, Yusuf Pathan, heaped praise on his teammate as he claimed that a lot of people will be looking forward to see David Warner take to the crease this season.

"He is returning after a long time so many people will come to watch him play again. You may be a fan of SRH or not but everyone enjoys his style of batting. He is a very much entertainer on the field.

"He has always been an entertainer. He always likes to play his shots early. So obviously everyone will look forward to (watch) him and how he plays this time. Wins or losses he always kept himself in touch and kept motivated us. He would always praise if somebody did well and backed up the players. He may be coming back after one year but it does not feel that he was not there with us last season. He was with us in spirit,"Pathan told PTI reporters.

Pathan, who has a total of 3164 runs to his name in the IPL, revealed that he has been working with Sri Lankan spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan to improve his game since last season.

"He guided me in where the landing feet should be. During the time of delivery, where my right leg should be. Where my hand in front should be and where I should be looking. The speed of my bowling arm and how it will come down?

"When you are in the game, you don't always realise what are the areas you need to work on. But when someone like Murali guides you, you get an idea. As an off-spinner, there's a lot to learn from him. He has always gone step by step for me. Last year also he had told me a few things. It's great to work with him," Pathan added.
