BCCI to have elections as per new constitution on October 22
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to undergo massive change as the election date in accordance with the new constitution has been set for October 22. The Committee of Administrators (CoA) added that the polls for the state associations will have to be completed by September 14.
The elections for the new set of office bearers of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as per the new constitution in accordance with the Lodha reforms has been scheduled for October 22. This comes after "a majority of the state associations" under the Indian governing body have opted fall in line with the Lodha reforms after lengthy meetings with Amicus Curiae PS Narasimha.
The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) further announced that the completion of polls for the state associations will have to be done by September 14 after which a list of representatives will be forwarded to the BCCI by September 23.
In addition to that, it was also revealed that the appointment of the Electoral Officer will be done by the BCCI and an electoral protocol will be prepared in consultation.
The Indian cricket board has been governed by the CoA ever since the Supreme Court had given the panel of administrators the power to supervise the running of the BCCI until the board can hold fresh elections for office bearers as per the Lodha reforms.
