Reports | Indian cricket team’s foreign tour allowance doubled

Over the years, the most significant change that the Indian cricket team has undergone is its desire to compete tooth and nail and come away with wins on away soils. A trend that was instigated by Sourav Ganguly under his captaincy and then followed suit by Anil Kumble, the likes of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli have only taken a step further.

In fact, Virat Kohli has now become the most successful Indian skipper away from home which is what has probably prompted the Committee of Administrators to reward his players for the feat. According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, the team will now earn a daily allowance of $250, which converts to nearly Rs 17,800, instead of the previously offered $125. These allowances are in addition to the travelling, accommodation and laundry expenses that are borne by the Board.

Virat Kohli had only recently led India to their first Test series win Down Under before becoming the first captain to come away from the Caribbean without recording a single loss as the Men in Blue recorded victories in the Test, ODI and T20I series. The team, however, has a streak of games at home for quite a few months before it will visit New Zealand next year for series across all the three formats of the game.
