On a day Australia lost their wickets as a pack of cards, it was Tim Paine who fought tooth and nail right till the last wicket fell to give a decent look to the scorecard. Paine’s unbeaten 73 was gorgeous to the naked eye but that will not hide the shortcomings of the Australian side who will have to up their game by a significant margin to avoid a loss in the Pink ball Test for the first time. 

Paine said Australia could have done a lot better in the first innings but admitted that the Indian bowlers put them under immense pressure from the very beginning.

“Certainly not our best performance but you've got to give India credit, they put us under pressure and we couldn't get any momentum or partnerships. Our top order's done a terrific job for a fair while now, I'm back them in, they'll come good," Paine said after the second day's play, reported ESPNCricinfo.

While India lost their way last night after two decent partnerships between Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara and then between Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, with the Indian skipper’s run-out being crucial at that stage. But the ball has done a fair bit under lights and the cherry playing a big role as well. Paine stated that it was difficult to spot the ball while adding that playing with pink balls is a more difficult proposition than the red ball.

"Yes, definitely the quality of the fast bowling is exceptional. Pink ball that is probably another factor. It takes time to adjust and it is not as easy to pick up and I will tell you, it is harder for the player," Paine said.

"At the end of the day, we have got to chase, we know it is going to be a challenge, the quality of bowling is exceptional, anything can happen tomorrow. We know our fast-bowling attack and Nathon Lyon, we thought his first 10 overs yesterday created a number of chances.”
