Fielders excel at targeting the stumps, but sometimes their throws miss and hit the batter. A similar incident occurred during the finals of the Under-19 Asia Cup, where K.P. Kathikeya's throw which was intended for the stumps, veered off course and struck the batter, Farid Hasan.

‌India skipper Mohammad Amaan won the toss and opted to bowl first in Dubai's dry conditions and Bangladesh got off to a cautious start, reaching 17/0 in six overs before losing Kalam Siddiki and Zawad Abrar early. The middle-order partnership between Mohammad Shihab James and Rizan Hossan stabilized the innings with a 53-run stand, taking the score to 119/3 by the 31st over. However, India’s bowlers, led by Ayush Mhatre, Kiran Chormale, and Karthikeya, struck back, reducing Bangladesh to 155/6 in 38 overs. With Farid Hasan and Samiun Bashir at the crease, Bangladesh aimed to recover and post a respectable total. Amidst this, there came a moment when Hasan was injured due to Karthikeya’s throw.

On the fourth delivery of the 40th over, Hardik Raj bowled a fuller delivery around the middle stump to Bashir, who judged the line well and pushed the ball towards the gully position. After hitting the ball, Bashir immediately called for a quick single and Farid was also ready to run, but a moment of confusion arose as the duo hesitated for a second before sprinting. Karthikeya, stationed at the gully, ran to pick up the ball and threw it towards the striker’s end. However, the throw missed the stumps and accidentally struck Farid’s hand, causing him to fall in pain. The game paused as the physio intervened Farid was initially in visible anguish but soon resumed bating thereafter. Twitterverse noticed this incident and took to social media to talk about it.
