Quite often the human mind tends to lay the blame on external factors for one's mistakes. Such was the case with Harshal Patel in the field during the first IPL match in Mullanpur between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings after the bowler blamed the sun rays for a drop in regulation chance.

The Delhi Capitals got off to a flying start inside the powerplay on the tournament’s curtain-raiser as David Warner, Mitch Marsh, and Shai Hope set the tone for them. The middle order tried to capitalize on it with a dropped catch from Harshal helping the visitors in the process.

On the second ball of the 12th over, Rahul Chahar bowled a half-tracker to Rishabh Pant at the off stump that the latter pulled towards the widish deep square leg region. Harshal Patel fielding at the long hop region sprinted towards the ball but failed to grasp the white rock despite being in its reach. However, the interesting aspect was when the 33-year-old seemed to blame the sun-rays for intervening in his path, regardless of wearing a sunglass. The Twitterverse found it funny from Harshal who tried to lay the blame on nature for dropping a sitter.
