Aussie wicketkeeper Josh Inglis has been appointed as the new captain for the remainder of the white-ball series against Pakistan. Inglis will take over ODI leadership from Pat Cummins, who will miss the final 50-over match in Perth to focus on finalizing preparations for the Test series.

‌Josh Inglis has been named Australia’s new T20I captain for the upcoming series against Pakistan and will also lead the team in the final ODI of the current series in Perth. With Pat Cummins focusing on his Test preparations and Mitchell Marsh on paternity leave, Inglis steps up to captain both the 50-over and 20-over formats for the first time.

Inglis becomes Australia’s 30th ODI captain since Bill Lawry led the team in the inaugural match in 1971, and the 14th T20I captain since 2005. He previously captained the Prime Minister's XI in 2022 in a drawn match against the West Indies.

To cover the absences, selectors have called up pace bowlers Spencer Johnson and Xavier Bartlett, along with keeper-batter Josh Phillipe to the ODI squad. Lance Morris joined the team for Wednesday's Melbourne match as Josh Hazlewood was on Sheffield Shield duty. Hazlewood has since returned for the squad in Adelaide ahead of the second ODI on Friday, with Bartlett travelling as a backup player.

Australia ODI and T20I squad vs Pakistan: Pat Cummins (c - first two matches), Josh Inglis, (c - third match), Sean Abbott, Xavier Bartlett (third match only), Cooper Connolly, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood (second match only), Spencer Johnson (third match only), Marnus Labuschagne (first two matches only), Glenn Maxwell, Lance Morris, Josh Philippe (third match only), Matthew Short, Steve Smith (first two matches only), Mitchell Starc (first two matches only), Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa
