‘Firsts’ are always special and special moments often bring out the raw emotions of an individual. The feeling wasn’t different for South African opener Tony de Zorzi who plucked a leaf out of English Footballer Cole Palmer’s book with an eye-catching celebration after reaching his maiden Test ton.

Eyeing for yet another win in the two-match Test series, South African captain Aiden Markram, chose to bat first under sweltering heat in Chattogram. The decision paid dividends with a 69-run opening stand setting up a formidable score until the Tea break with de Zorzi stealing the spotlight after a mesmerising century and recreating a special celebration.

De Zorzi didn’t bother to lunge forward and slog a fuller loopy delivery over the deep mid wicket region from Taijul Islam to reach the ninety’s mark on the 52nd over’s second delivery. Having gathered four runs in the next seven deliveries he faced, de Zorzi was four runs short of a century. When Mehidy Hasan Miraz fed the southpaw with a fuller and tossed-up delivery outside the stumps on the 54th over’s third delivery, the batter leaned forward and swept the ball towards deep backward square leg to bring up his maiden Test ton. Right after, the left-hander was seen channelizing his inner ‘Cold’Palmer celebration by crossing his arms and shaking his fingers. The whole South African dug out stood up to laud de Zorzi’s scintillating knock and the Twitterverse followed suit.

What an Ice-cold celebration in cricket!
