Cricket is a game where the players can surprise the fans when they least expect it. A glimpse of that was shown by Rinku Singh, who is normally known for his heroics with the bat but announced himself in the Uttar Pradesh Premier League with a first-ball wicket against the Kanpur Superstars.
The game of T20 cricket has taken the world by storm, with a number of states having their own T20 franchise tournaments. One of the T20 leagues is the Uttar Pradesh Premier League, which started its third season on August 17. Though this might not be a high-profile tournament, there are still some iconic players participating in the tournament. One of the icons of the league was KKR and Team India’s talented middle-order batter Rinku Singh, who is the skipper of the Meerut Mavericks. While the 27-year-old will be pleased that his team started the tournament with a massive 86-run win against the Kanpur Superstars, as the mavericks scored 225/2 in the first innings and restricted the Superstars to 139/9. As the team did not lose many wickets, Rinku did not get a chance to showcase his talent with the bat, but still managed to announce himself in the regional league in the most surprising fashion
The 2024 IPL winner surprised everyone as he decided to bowl the fourth over of the power play. which seemed like a bold and risky move as the opponents were already under pressure with the score at 9/1 after three overs. However, Rinku struck gold on the first ball as Superstar’s top order batter, Adarsh Singh, gave himself room, and Rinku bowled a quicker and flatter delivery, which angled into the batter. In the end, Adarsh was surprised as the Ball drifted in a lot and crashed into his stumps. The Maverick’s skipper celebrated the wicket with a roar. Rinku kept things tight after the wicket as well as he only conceded four runs in the over and kept the lid on the scoring. This was one of the surprising moments of the game, where Rinku proved he always has the element of surprise, whether it is with bat or ball.
