'Form is temporary but class is permanent' may be a cliche, but so is Mohammed Shami evolving into his most menacing form whenever a global tournament arrives. The Indian quick was back at it in India's Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh on Thursday with two scalps in his opening spell.

Bangladesh got their Champions Trophy campaign off to a disastrous start in Dubai with three wickets falling within the first seven overs. Missing the experience of the retired Tamim Iqbal up top and with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto enduring a rough patch, doubts prevailed before the match even begin. However, such was the case for India too with Mohammed Shami managing just two wickets in the recent series against England upon his return from injury. Yet, as has been the case throughout the pacer's career, cometh the hour cometh the man.

It took Shami just six balls to open his account as he pitched the last ball of his opening over wide of off on a good length that nipped back in sharply upon pitching. Soumya Sarkar went for a booming drive and the Kookaburra zipped off the inside edge straight into KL Rahul's gloves. The Tigers tried to counter with two boundaries in the quick's third over but it was Shami who had the final laugh. On the second ball of the sixth over, Shami floated a wide full delivery inviting the drive from Mehidy Hasan Miraz. However, the white rock bounced more than the all-rounder expected and took a thick outside edge with Shubman Gill making no mistakes at slip.

Twitterati was ectstaic about Shami's successful return to the big stage.
