HH-W vs BH-W | Twitter impressed as Lizelle Lee and Wyatt-Hodge help Hurricanes continue on top of table in WBBL
Hobart Hurricanes beat Brisbane Heat by 16 runs in a rain-shortened match in the Women’s Big Bash League. Openers Lizelle Lee and Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s century stand helped the side to a formidable total before the Hurricanes’ bowlers chipped in to continue their reign at the top of the points table.
After being put into bat at the Drummoyne Oval, the Hurricanes’ openers Lee and Wyatt-Hodge began with boundaries off Lucy Hamilton before Lee took on Sianna Ginger with a six and two fours in the next. The Heat skipper Jess Jonassen brought herself on in the last over of the powerplay, starting with a maiden as the score read 31/0 after the four-over mark. Though rain delayed proceedings and the match was reduced to 12 overs a side, the Hurricanes' openers continued in the same vein with Lee reaching her half-century in style, with a six of Nicola Hancock in the ninth over. The pair added 109 runs before Wyatt-Hodge was dismissed by Jonasenn in the final over of the innings. The side ended at a formidable 114/1 in 12 overs, with Lee top-scoring for them with three sixes and six fours during her unbeaten 45-ball 59. Meanwhile, Wyatt-Hodge hit five fours and two maximums to make 44 off 26 balls, with Jonassen ending with impressive figures of 1/12 in three overs.
With a revised target of 125 as per the DLS method, Heat lost opener Charli Knott cheaply in the second over. However, Grace Harris and Jemimah Rodrigues did not let that affect the scoring rate, taking the side to 28/1 after the three-over mark. But once Rodrigues and Jonassen departed for 20 and 18, respectively, the Heat endured a horrible collapse, slipping from 70/3 to 91/8. They finally ended at 108/9 after 12 overs, with Harris ending as their top run getter with a 21-ball 28, hitting five fours. Nicola Carey was the pick among the Hurricanes’ bowlers with a spell of 2/10 in two overs, while Heather Graham and Molly Strano also chipped in with two wickets.

Consistent Value
WPL teams have generally preferred players that are still active in international cricket but Lizelle Lee could be a very good option for a couple of teams
