The second T20I between New Zealand and Australia at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui was abandoned due to persistent rains. With the visitors winning the first game of the three-match series, both sides will square up again at the same venue for the final game on Saturday.

‌Rain played spoilsport as the second T20I between New Zealand and Australia at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui was abandoned after only 2.1 overs. With persistent downpour delaying toss and then reducing the game to a nine-over affair, players had to take cover with another spell curtaling any chances of a restart.

The home side won the toss and chose to bowl, with Matt Henry delivering an excellent first over, conceding just two runs. But an over later, the umpires decided there will not be any further action after play was halted by heavy rains.

Australia lead the three-match series 1-0, with the final match set to be played at the same venue on Saturday.
