The ICC has been put in question once again for favouring India Women. English players, Kate Cross and Alex Hartley say that the ICC is favouring India Women with the semi-final timings. On the other hand, India Women will be going against Australia Women in a virtual knockout today.

It is a big day for the India Women's team if they want to take a spot in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup semi-final stages. Even though the stage is set, the team will have to defeat Australia Women to ensure that they reach the next stage and South Africa Women are eliminated.

But before this big game, a controversy has taken over the internet. Two English players, Alex Hartley and Kate Cross, have made some major allegations of the ICC favouring the India Women's team. The two players have made a statement which has started to make the headlines, and it has also invited mixed response from the fans.

They said, “If India qualify for the semifinals, they're guaranteed to play in the Tuesday semifinal because the ICC believes that's the best slot for them from a broadcasting and time-zone perspective? Everything is planned around when India will play. It's absolutely ridiculous. I don't understand how a governing body can go into a tournament and prioritize one team like that. I know exactly why they're doing it because India generates the most viewership and revenue but I still think it's unfair.”

Our Take

The ICC has still not reacted to these statements made by Kate Cross and Alex Hartley. Moreover, fans are expecting that the ECB might take action, as the words used by them have been quite harsh. It should be noted that the decisions taken by the ICC are only arrived at when the majority of the members have agreed to the same.
