Kasi Viswanathan, the Chennai Super Kings' CEO, has again reiterated the franchise's desire for MS Dhoni to "be with the team forever in future" and "irrespective of what they choose as their next role".

The CSK CEO had a statement to make when commenting about Dhoni's future with the franchise, terming the doors being open for the legendary wicketkeeper-batter in the squad in the various roles as either the player, mentor, coach and any other role as well. He, however, said that the rest is with Dhoni.

The statement has come in the wake of continuous rumors about Dhoni's Indian Premier League (IPL) future after a more than emotional play with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) this season. Even though Dhoni has had health issues and on-field experience in lesser numbers in recent times, he remains the brand ambassador for the franchise, and one of the most sought-after players globally in cricket.

Though it was his ability to lead CSK to the five IPL titles, Dhoni's impact is felt beyond the court. He has influenced and will continue to influence the culture of the franchise to a great degree over the years, and most of all by bringing both his leadership and calmness.

Our Take

The words made by the CEO of Chennai Super Kings come at a time when his retirement speculations are high again. He didn't play even a single game for the team this season. The CSK management has always revealed its wish to retain Dhoni in their team even after his retirement and the talking points were also voiced by supporters who want the ‘‘Legend of the Yellow Army’' to continue his path in some manner with the Yellow Army for many more years.
