ISL 2015: Three reasons why Kolkata and Delhi will play out a draw today

Both Atletico de Kolkata and Delhi Dynamos are heading into this game on the back of disappointing defeats, but the winner of this game will make their way back into the top-four.

Prediction

Atletico de Kolkata 1-1 Delhi Dynamos

1. Delhi's goal drought

Delhi Dynamos have scored the least number of goals in the league so far – just four in their five matches. While the trio of Robin Singh, Dos Santos and Florent Malouda have looked dangerous at times, they have failed to be effective in finding the back of the net. This goal drought is also partly due to the defensive tactics Roberto Carlos has used so far in this tournament.

2. Postiga-less Atletico lack a focal point

The men in red and white have failed to score in the last 217 minutes of football. Injuries to both Helder Postiga and Arata Izumi have handicapped them in attack and put a lot of pressure on Iain Hume.

The Canadian striker has worked hard as always, but he is not the type of striker who would stay in the box looking to finish off moves. Kolkata are missing a focal point in their attack upfront and they will continue to struggle until they find one.

3. Two stubborn defenses

Delhi Dynamos has conceded the least number of goals so far in the tournament as Roberto Carlos has successfully instilled organization at the back. Kolkata's main threat in attack will come from Hume, who loves to drift wide to the right wing, and Delhi has someone as experienced as John Arne Riise to deal with him.

Despite winning just one of their last four games, Kolkata have not conceded too many goals during this phase. The reigning champions lifted the crown last season based on a solid defense and although they will be missing Josemi through injury, they have enough strength at the back to deal with Delhi's less than potent attack.
