Portuguese World Cup star Helder Postiga, youngest of the marquee players in ISL 2015, said he is geared up for his Atletico de Kolkata debut following intense pre-season training in Segovia, Spain

“I have enjoyed a good partnership with (Iain) Hume in pre-season training. He is a good player and works very hard. I hope to see our partnership helping the team in the tournament,” the 33-year-old striker told a news conference in Kolkata.

Postiga, who played in the 2004 Euro final and 2006 World Cup alongside the famed Cristiano Ronaldo, was picked by the defending ISL champions as replacement for ageing Spanish World Cup star Luis Garcia, who was adjudged the Most Exciting Player last season but carried injury concerns.

“Garcia had a good season and helped the team to the championship last year. I look forward to do something better,” said Postiga, who played for a prominent Spanish La Liga club Deportivo La Coruna in the previous season.

“I find my Indian colleagues quite good. I was surprised at the way they performed and the hard work they put in during the pre-season training,” he added.
