Mohun Bagan's title defence in the upcoming I-League season received a major boost, as they signed arguably the most in-form striker in the league, Jeje Lalpekhlua. The Kolkata-based club have also roped in talented defender Pronay Halder, who also drew interest from East Bengal and Bengaluru FC.

In the last eight months, Jeje Lalpekhlua has won the I-League with Mohun Bagan, Indian Super League with Chennaiyin FC and the SAFF Cup with India. The 25-year-old signed for Mohun Bagan at the start of the 2014-15 campaign, from Dempo, on a short-term contract, before signing for Chennaiyin.

In the ISL, Jeje scored six goals in 11 appearances for Chennaiyin, and was one of the most impressive Indian players in the star-studded league.

Mohun Bagan's arch rivals East Bengal were interested in signing the Indian international, but the defending champions pulled the strings to sign the striker on loan from the ISL champions. Jeje will pair up with the likes of Balwant Singh and Cornell Glen upfront for the Mariners.

Mohun Bagan has also roped in talented defensive midfielder Pronay Halder, from Goan club Dempo. The 22-year-old was part of the FC Goa team, which reached the final of the ISL, before losing to Chennaiyin. The midfielder is gradually becoming a regular in the national team squad, and has shown remarkable character to bounce back from the terrible injury which kept him out for the majority of the I-League last season.

The Barrackpore-born footballer initially drew interest from both Bengaluru FC and East Bengal, but both the clubs were put off by Dempo's high transfer fee demand. According to Times of India, Halder has signed a two-year contract with Mohun Bagan worth Rs 1.15 crore.
