Champions of the first season and semi-finalists of the second season, Atlético de Kolkata announced today the signing of Portuguese central defender, Henrique Sereno Fonseca as a replacement for Pablo José Gallardo Zurera.

Sereno has played for Portugal national team and has an experience of playing in clubs like Porto, Real Valladolid and top-flight German club F.C Koln in the past.

Sereno made his debut for Portugal national team in June 2013. In late June 2010, after Valladolid's relegation in La Liga, Sereno returned to his country, signing with FC Porto on a free transfer. On 20 August 2011, deemed surplus to requirements as practically all Portuguese players, he joined German club FC Köln on a season-long loan deal. Sereno made his Bundesliga debut on 27 August 2011, playing the full 90 minutes in a 4–3 away success over Hamburger SV. He featured regularly during the campaign. On February 2010, Sereno signed with Real Valladolid in Spain for five months. He made his club debut on 20 March, playing the entire 2–0 win at Deportivo de La Coruña.
