United legends slam the team after Chelsea humiliation

United legend Gary Neville has called Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera's performance in the 4-0 loss at Chelsea as 'embarrassing'. Ryan Giggs was left fuming as United players were seen laughing and swapping jerseys with Chelsea players after the dreadful performance they put in against the London side.

"I think that today they got a little bit shoddy in the second-half. It was embarrassing from Pogba and Herrera. Kante just walked through them. They are the central midfield players," Neville, who is a pundit on Sky Sports, said after the game.

"The first goal was just a joke, gifting a goal after 30 seconds."

Since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, United have bought six central midfielders, but Daley Blind has been converted into a defender, Bastian Schweinsteiger has been relegated to the fringes by Jose Mourinho, and Morgan Schneiderlin has made just one Premier League appearance this season.

"About three years ago there was a lot of talk about how Manchester United hadn’t signed a defensive midfielder for years. They’ve signed about £180m of midfield players, Fellaini, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Pogba, I don’t know what pair I can say are a good pair," Neville said further claiming that Michael Carrick (35) still looks like United's best option in the centre of the park.

" Carrick actually looks like he still gives the most balance. The other four, there doesn’t seem to be a pair between them."

Neville reckons Mourinho will not tolerate mediocrity in the months to come, and a number of these players might find themselves on the transfer list come May.

"I think he’ll drive a bus through the club in the next six months because he won’t be accept defending like that. We’ve seen it before with Jose they’ll be gone.

Ryan Giggs was furious that Manchester United players were seen 'swapping shirts and laughing' after their 4-0 humiliating defeat at Stamford Bridge. United players were seen sharing jokes with their respective International teammates.

David De Gea shared some small talk with Pedro while Antony Martial walked back with his arms around Ngolo Kante - the scorers of Chelsea's first and fourth goals.

“You can get beat in a football match, but then when you’re getting beat and you’re swapping shirts – which is something I don’t like, call me old fashioned,” Giggs explained.

“If you get beat 4-0, you congratulate the opposition, you thank the supporters and then you get off the pitch."

“You don’t stand around on the pitch, swapping shirts and laughing, with the team that’s just beat you.”
