Whether I'm at Bayern or elsewhere next season, I cannot say, reveals David Alaba
David Alaba has suggested that he might leave Bayern Munich next summer, with the 27-year-old linked with a move to several Premier League clubs in the past. But with him about to enter the final year of his deal, it does means that Bayern have to decide if they want to keep him or not.
David Alaba broke into the Bayern Munich first team after impressing in the youth ranks of the club. After his debut in 2010, the Austrian became a regular starter for the club at left-back. However, with the arrival of French full-back Lucas Hernandez this summer, it is clear that Alaba’s game time will be reduced, despite the fact that the Austrian can play as a midfielder.
While speaking with Austria Press Agency, Alaba went on to say “My focus is on Bayern. I don’t know what will happen next year, but I have always stressed that I am a player looking for new challenges — whether that will be at Bayern or elsewhere, I cannot say.”
The former Hoffenheim full-back has previously stated that he has been a lifelong fan of Arsenal and would only be interested in moving to Spain or England if he were to leave Munich. The 27-year-old has also been linked to Barcelona and Real Madrid in the past but neither side have shown any interest in making a move this summer.
TEAMtalk says that Alaba was offered in a deal for Manchester City star Leroy Sane which included a transfer fee as well, but the Premier League champions were not interested in a move for the Austrian. Alaba’s contract at the Allianz Arena is about to end, and the club will have to lose him as a free agent if they don’t decide soon.
