India women’s football team register back-to-back wins against Indonesia
The Indian women’s football team secured their second win against hosts’ Indonesia in their ongoing tour of the Asian country as they beat hosts’ 2-0 in the second friendly on Wednesday. While Sanju scored in the first half, Dangmei Grace netted the second goal just minutes before the final whistle.
Indian women's football team secured their second successive victory over Indonesia whom they beat by a scoreline of 2-0 in the second friendly match on Wednesday. While Sanju scored in the first half, Dangmei Grace netted the second goal just minutes before the end of the game to hand Maymol Rocky’s side their fourth straight win and maintain their unbeaten run on the Asia tour.
Early free-kicks from long range saw winger Sanju, and striker Anju Tamang miss narrowly for the visitors. Indian head coach, Rocky, was constantly motivating her players to press higher when eventually Sanju put the visitors into the lead with a perfectly-placed shot into the top right corner after a brilliant assist from Ratanbala Devi in the Indonesian penalty area.
However, the home side nearly equalised a few minutes later after a cross from the right was met with a header but the Indians were lucky that it went off the crossbar and out of play. India managed to keep the play in the opposition third for long periods and their efforts finally paid dividends in the second minute of injury-time when Dangmei Grace prodded in a rebound over the Indonesia keeper to end the match at 2-0.
