Andre Onana Breaks Silence on Injury Ahead of Transfer Rumours

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana confirmed he’s feeling great but remains uncertain for the Premier League opener against Arsenal on August 17 due to a hamstring injury. Backup Altay Bayindir may start, though he could leave the club. United are also monitoring Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens as a potential goalkeeper signing.

Coming to the latest Manchester United update, goalkeeper André Onana has confirmed he is feeling good and aims to return in time for the 2025–26 Premier League opener against Arsenal on August 17. The Cameroonian has missed all of pre-season due to a hamstring injury but travelled with the squad to the U.S. for the Premier League Summer Series. With one final friendly against Fiorentina on Saturday, it's still uncertain if Onana will be fit to start the league opener.

In his absence, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton have filled in, with Bayindir expected to start if Onana remains unavailable. However, Bayindir is also reportedly eyeing a move for more game time, which could lead United to pursue a new goalkeeper, with Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens being considered. Injury concerns also loom over Noussair Mazraoui, Joshua Zirkzee, and Lisandro Martinez.

While Mazraoui and Zirkzee are likely to return against Fiorentina, Martinez is still recovering from a long-term knee injury and has only resumed light training. Transfer speculation continues around Onana following a mixed stint at Old Trafford, but no concrete offers have emerged so far.
