Juventus Open to Selling Weah and Mbangula for €23m

Juventus are in talks with Nottingham Forest to sell Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula for a combined €23m. Under coach Igor Tudor, both have had limited playtime. Weah joined for €10.3m in 2023, while Mbangula cost under €500k. Juventus aim to secure capital gains as both players remain out of Tudor’s regular plans.

For the upcoming transfer window, Juventus are prepared to offload attackers Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula for a combined fee of just €23 million, a figure that has sparked curiosity across Europe. Nottingham Forest have initiated talks for both players, who are reportedly open to a move away from Turin. The decision comes after both players failed to impress under new coach Igor Tudor, who replaced Thiago Motta in March.

Weah, who was signed in 2023 for €10.3 million plus add-ons, has only started three Serie A games under Tudor, all at wing-back, a position not ideal for his strengths. Mbangula, on the other hand, arrived from Anderlecht for less than €500,000 and played a mere four minutes under Tudor in Serie A. Their limited involvement continued during the Club World Cup in the US, where Weah played just 45 minutes and Mbangula remained unused.

With Tudor confirmed to continue for the 2024-25 season, their future at Juventus looks bleak. Despite the seemingly low transfer price, Juventus stand to make capital gains due to the players’ relatively cheap acquisition costs. As a result, a swift sale this summer is not just likely but financially viable for the club.
