For the first match of his tenure as Juventus head coach, Luciano Spalletti began with a 2-1 victory over Cremonese at the Stadio Giovanni Zini. Goals from Filip Kostic, who struck just 85 seconds into the game, and Andrea Cambiaso gave Juventus a strong start, while Jamie Vardy’s late goal for Cremonese proved only a consolation. Spalletti, who replaced Igor Tudor after a poor run of results, acknowledged that while the win was encouraging, several areas still required quick improvement.

He highlighted the immense pressure that comes with representing Juventus, noting that the club’s high standards can be both motivating and overwhelming for players. Spalletti’s tactical approach was evident as he deployed Teun Koopmeiners in a deep midfield role, almost as a third centre-back, to neutralise Vardy’s counterattacking threat. Koopmeiners excelled with a 90.6% pass accuracy from 53 completions, showcasing his composure and control.

Spalletti praised the team’s communication and focus but admitted that consistency will take time. Despite the victory marking a positive start to his reign, he stressed the importance of maintaining discipline and cohesion as Juventus aim to regain their competitive edge under his management.
