Brazil star Neymar has suggested that the 2026 FIFA World Cup could be the final major tournament of his international career, calling it his “Last Dance” in response to a FIFA social media post. The 34 year old remains Brazil’s all time leading scorer with 79 goals in 128 matches.

As the FIFA World Cup 2026 approaches, Brazilian superstar Neymar has hinted that the tournament could mark the final chapter of his international career. The 34 year old forward described the upcoming event as “The Last Dance” while responding to a FIFA social media post celebrating his journey with the national team, drawing comparisons to Michael Jordan’s famous farewell season with the Chicago Bulls.

Neymar remains Brazil’s all time leading scorer with 79 goals in 128 international appearances. He has not represented the national side since suffering an ACL injury during a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in October 2023. Since then, a series of fitness setbacks have limited his involvement, with a recent calf strain also raising concerns ahead of Brazil’s opening World Cup match against Morocco on June 13. The Santos forward has enjoyed a remarkable international career.

He emerged as one of Brazil’s brightest talents during the 2014 World Cup on home soil before injury ended his campaign. He later captained Brazil to Olympic gold at Rio 2016 but faced disappointment at the 2018 World Cup as injuries affected his form. With Brazil preparing for a record 23rd World Cup appearance in 2026, Neymar appears ready for one final opportunity to leave his mark on football’s biggest stage before bidding farewell to international football.
